Pro Golf Swing Basics

A pro golf swing is the desire of all us amateur golfers. If you like golf, love to play, love the smell of the grass the feel of the sun and the friendly competition, and you don't have the swing of a golf pro, then you know something's missing. If, however, you could add a nice professional quality golf swing to this mix, your golf experience would be almost perfect. So, what is this golf swing to be desired? And how do you get it? Let's find out.

The first thing you need to know about learning how to have a pro golf swing is that your body already knows how to swing a golf club. You hear from a lot of "professional" coaches and gurus that the golf swing is very unnatural for the human body. That's just not true. A real pro swing fits the body completely. It's composed of motions that we do every day that are anything if not natural. Swinging your arms from side to side, turning a quarter turn and swiveling your hips, cocking your wrists, these are all very natural human motions. They're also the building blocks of a pro golf swing.

So, how do you actually get a pro swing? I can't tell you everything you need to know in this short article, but I can give you some tips that will help you start to swing that golf club in a completely natural way.

One thing that will help you achieve a powerful, pro swing is to realize that by and large you're not hitting the golf ball. You're grazing the ground where the golf ball is sitting. I know that might sound horribly counter-intuitive, but think about it. Quit trying to hit the ball! If you think about hitting the ball, chances are you'll hit the ball...with the leading edge of the club. The ball won't fly, and it will just shoot off in front of you. (What we Southerners call a "worm burner"!)

The next thing you need to do to start swinging like a pro is realize that golfing is nothing more than a sideways chopping motion. Pick up your golf club and chop the earth with it. Now, just do that from the side and you've got the beginnings of a professional golf swing.

Finally, when you finish your swing face the direction the ball is flying.

There you have it. Do these three things and you'll start developing a pro golf swing.

Tips For Using Online Golf Lessons to Improve Your Game

Online golf lessons can help you master the game of golf cheaply and conveniently. It won't cost you a nickel in a lot of cases, although there are some really good membership sites you can join. Also, online golf lessons won't cost you nearly as much as hiring a coach, or even as much as taking a class. On the flip side, online lessons don't necessarily have the structure that offline lessons have. So, it's easy to give up and discontinue practicing what you've learned.

So, what are the skills you need to benefit from golf lessons online? The main ones are consistency and self-discipline. Let's talk about all of this in this article.

I don't want to be simplistic, but golf is a sport. You can read all the books, look at all the videos, and even have all the classes you want, but what's really going to make a difference in your game is consistent drill and practice.

A friend of mine played for a while on the senior PGA tour. He was never a top rated golfer, but he had just sold his business and was having fun just being one of the guys. He told me about a match where one of the top rated golfers (I've forgotten the name) screwed up their match, big time. He wasn't just beat, he was brutalized! So, that evening when everyone else was hanging out in the hotel, where was this guy? My friend found him on the driving range, hitting ball after ball after ball. He told me the guy must have hit a few hundred balls.

He obliterated the competition the next day!

Consistent drill and practice! Even with online golf lessons, that's the real key! Consistent drill and practice.
So, how can you apply this to using online golf lessons? Well, it's according to how good you want to get at golf and how much time you have to put into it. What are your goals with online golf lessons? Are you serious about your game, or do you just want to have more fun on the course? Either way proper, consistent application of what you learn from online golf lessons can really help!

Online Golf Lessons - Consistency Is The Key!

Online golf lessons are key to mastering this game without spending a fortune on coaches. What, however, can you learn from these sorts of lessons? Well, everything form how to hit massive drives to an intelligent short game, to longer putts that actually make it into the hole and don't dramatically raise your score. Although online golf lessons are definitely key, consistency is what you're after.

By consistency I mean this... every time you swing your 9 iron you know how far it's going to do and where the ball's going to go. Although golf is a game for thinkers, it's a sport. That is there's a tremendous amount of physical skill involved.

If you're 70 or so yards from the hole and you know you can hit that distance with a certain iron, you want to be able to actually hit that distance when you pick up that iron. You don't want your 6 or 7 iron to hit the ball sometimes 20 yards farther and sometimes 20 yards closer. Actually knowing and understanding how far each club hits for you is one of the big keys to using golf lessons (or any training for that matter) to help lower your score and better your game.

As far as these golf lessons, let's look at a few easy tips that will allow you to consistently crush the ball and also to consistently drive the same distances with your irons.

Online Golf Lessons: Consistency Tips

1. It all starts with posture. You must learn to stand in an easy stance of knees bent, back slightly bent, feet perpendicular to the direction of the flight of the ball, and most of your weight on your heels. You'll need to practice this stance. Online golf lessons can tell you what to do, they just can't do it for you.

2. As you rotate your hips and swing the club, your body does not change overall position. You don't swing your hips, nor do you straighten your back except at the end of the shot.

3. What makes the ball go the farthest is the rotation of your hips times with the swing. One of the most important aspects of these online golf lessons is learning to clear the front of your body out of the way, as you rotate through the swing. Do this right and you'll deliver an enormous amount of power to the swing.

4. Make sure you don't take your eyes off the ball! Even after it's hit, keep looking at the grass where the ball was.

5. Don't try to crush the ball. Implement these online golf lessons and let skill carry your ball, not brute strength.

6. Learn your clubs. Don't just read these online lessons and go to the course. The driving range is your friend. There you can really learn your clubs.

7. Stretch prior to playing golf. And during your game. Look for good stretches that we recommend for online golf lessons. Use these and increase your range of motion.

Online Golf Lessons - How to Perfect Your Swing

Online golf lessons can help you with virtually all aspects of your game. In this particular article, we're going to focus on your swing. If you're at all into golf, then I'm sure you've look with envy at Tiger Woods or Annika Sorenstam's swing. The flexibility and core strength required to do this is simply amazing. These folks are gifted genetically. But still they've drilled, played, and exercised for years to perfect their swings.

Your swing doesn't have to be this good to be really excellent compared with the normal "garden variety" golfer. As far as online golf lessons, we're talking about taking ordinary mortals and turning them into very good golfer, which is entirely possible. As far as earning millions on the PGA and tens of millions through Nike endorsements, well, that's a matter of genetics. But anyway...

For the purposes of these online golf lessons, let's break down the elements of what you need to master in order to have a really good golf swing. First off, is the grip.

Your grip is perhaps the most important aspect of your whole golf swing. Look at it like this. If you don't have a good grip you can do everything else right, but the motion and power is not going to get transferred to the club head. There are a number of different grips, you need to choose one and perfect it. Any grip you use that feels comfortable will work with these online golf lessons.

The next detail about your swing we're going to talk about in these online golf lessons is stance and posture. In general, you want your legs to be shoulder width apart. If they're much closer, then you're not going to have the stability necessary for distance and accuracy. In most cases, you'll be balancing your weight evenly between your legs.

In order to get the most possible from these online golf lessons, you need to realize that your stance essentially determines your swing. When you swing you rotate your hips toward the front. The right stance is going to make this easy to do. The wrong stance is going to make you feel like you're a pretzel.

The next thing we need to talk about in these online golf lessons, now that we have you gripping the club correctly and standing correctly, is how to swing the club. When you set up, the golf club head is positioned at the back of the ball. You start your backswing by rotating the club head back away from the ball and up over your shoulders.

When you get to the top of your swing bring the club down with the same fluid motion. Also when you get to the top of your backswing, about 75% of your weight will be on your back foot.

Next follow through with your forward swing with the same speed and fluidity as your backswing. Don't try to crush the ball. This will only result in your losing accuracy. Let the club do the work, and let your body to its work without tensing up and trying to crush it.

The final thing you need to do is to practice all of this and continue working with these online golf lessons. Do all of that and you'll be amazed at how fast your swing improves.
